Showcase at OBF Music Festival 

Apply now for the opportunity to perform at Ode to the Black Fiddler Music Festival, taking place on August 20, 2022 at The Bronx Brewery. 

Whether this is your first time or you’ve been with us before, we invite prospective string musicians and ensembles from all over the world to perform in front of industry professionals and excited New York City fans.

Application is open to:

  1. ​

  • All genres (Classical, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Latin, Blues, Electronic, Experimental etc.)

  • Solo acts and/or ensembles (max. 4) - Ensemble must include at least one member who plays a string instrument.

  • Artists from any part of the world, who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color). For ensembles, at least 50% of group members must be from the BIPOC community.

  • Selected artists are guaranteed one official OBF showcase performance.

  • Showcase slots run an average of 30 minutes (some exceptions may apply). 

  • Showcases will take place on Saturday, August 20, 2022 in the Bronx, New York. Rain date is scheduled for Saturday, September 10, 2022.

  • OBF Music Fest does not provide artist backline or cover travel and accommodation expenses.

  • Artists who are not U.S. residents are responsible for securing their own visas for entry into the United States.

  • All OBF showcasing artists must agree to the OBF Exclusivity Policy, which includes the following points: (a) Artist’s official OBF Showcase is their first performance priority (b) Artist will not perform any non-OBF shows that OBF deems to be a conflict and/or adversely affects OBF 2022 (c) Artist will not take actions that undermine the success or inhibit attendance of Artist’s official OBF showcase, including, without limitation, accepting invitations for an excessive number of non-OBF shows. Such actions negatively impact OBF artist performances, showcase attendance, and the overall quality of showcases.

  • The person listed as Primary Contact in your OBF Music Festival Showcase Application should be someone authorized to respond on behalf of the act applying and who frequently checks their email. Notifications from OBF will be sent to the Primary Contact email address, and will require a timely response. By entering this application to Ode to the Black Fiddler Music Festival, presented by IAH Studio, LLC, I (referred to as “I”, “you”, “me”, “my” or “applicant”) acknowledge and agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

have read and agree to the OBF Terms of Use, OBF Privacy Policy and OBF Code of Conduct.

I reviewed the terms of this application, including, without limitation, the eligibility criteria and entry deadlines, which are incorporated into these Terms and Conditions.

Entering this application does not guarantee my selection to participate in OBF Music Fest 2022. OBF will only review and consider completed applications for inclusion in OBF 2022. OBF's selection decisions are based on the criteria set forth in the application and these Terms and Conditions, and its decisions are made in OBF's sole, undisputed discretion. OBF is under no obligation to provide feedback to applicants.

The application fee is for OBF receiving, handling, reviewing, and processing my application, and is not refundable for any reason, including, without limitation, if my application is not accepted or if I am no longer able to participate in OBF Music Fest 2022 for any reason. If I am accepted to participate in OBF, and the activity I am accepted for does not take place as part of OBF 2022 for any reason, I may request an application fee waiver to apply to the next scheduled OBF event. ​

I represent and warrant that the information I provided in this application is accurate, I have the rights necessary to enter this application, all aspects of the work underlying this application are my own and do not infringe on the rights of any third party, my application and work underlying the application does not violate any agreement(s) or understanding by which I’m bound, including, without limitation, any confidentiality, employment, consulting, intellectual property assignment or license agreement, nor would my participation in OBF violate any such agreement(s).

OBF will treat my submission information as confidential, but I understand and agree that: (a) I am responsible for protecting my intellectual property rights; and (b) sharing proprietary information on the internet carries inherent risks, including piracy, and I assume those risks unless they are the result of OBF's gross negligence.                     
I hereby indemnify, defend, and hold harmless OBF Music Fest/IAH Studio, its parents, subsidiaries, owners, and affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, and employees from any and all responsibility or liability arising out of or in connection with: (a) any breach of my representations or warranties contained herein; and (b) my violation of these Terms and Conditions and/or any guidelines, policies and terms provided by OBF Music Fest.

This application does not grant me the rights to use the OBF trademarks or other proprietary intellectual property. I agree to comply with the OBF Trademark Guidelines.

I agree and consent that OBF may perpetually use, publish, distribute and publicly perform content embodying my name, voice, likeness, image, biographical information, statements, and other identifying materials, only if such content is provided by me, or, if I’m selected to participate in OBF 2022, in recordings captured during my participation in OBF 2022 (collectively, “My Likeness”) in connection with OBF's products and services, and materials and activities that promote OBF's products or services in any medium, including, without limitation through the OBF event platforms, social media channels, owned and operated website, and the OBF media partner outlets (collectively, the “OBF Materials”). I understand and agree that: (a) there will be no financial or other monetary compensation to me for such use of My Likeness in the OBF Materials, (b) OBF shall have the right to edit, rearrange, vary, change, alter, modify, and delete My Likeness in the OBF Materials without changing the substance or meaning, (c) no promotions or other material incorporating My Likeness need be submitted to me for any further approval and OBF shall be without liability to me for any use of My Likeness, and (d) OBF shall be the exclusive owner of all right, title and interest, including copyright, in the OBF Materials.

I consent to OBF collecting, processing and using the personal data I supplied in this application in order to review my materials and communicate with me about the application.

I acknowledge and agree that due to causes outside of the control of OBF Music Fest, OBF reserves the right to: (a) modify the dates, locations or method of participating in OBF 2022; and/or (b) cancel, modify or suspend applications for OBF 2022, whether accepted or not. I agree that OBF may notify me of any of these modifications by posting a notice on its website.

I agree that I will have no remedy against OBF, at law or in equity or otherwise, if (a) the dates, locations or methods of participating in OBF 2022 change; or (b) my application is denied, cancelled, or suspended, regardless of the reason.

These Terms and Conditions will be interpreted by, and enforced in accordance with, the laws of the State of New York regardless of applicable choice of law rules.
